Good News For Lagos Commuters As BRT Operator Reviews Fare Downwards
This is good news for passengers using the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the Ikorodu to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) corridors of the state.
Operators of the BRT scheme along the route, Primero Transport Services Limited, have concluded plans to slash the current flat rate of bus fares.
The new fare regime will see a five percent reduction in bus fare across the routes which comprises of five zones from Ikorodu to TBS.
The five zones are; Ikorodu-Mile12, Mile 12-Maryland, Maryland-Fadeyi, Fadeyi-Constain and Constain-TBS
Bus fares will now be charged based on commuting from one zone to another against the former charges of flat rate.
A passenger commuting from Ikorodu to Maryland will now pay N150 as against the current charge of N200, those from Maryland to Fadeyi, now pay N200, against the current charge of N250, and Fadeyi to Costain passengers will now pay N250, as against current N300, while passengers from Ikorodu to TBS maintain the current charge of N300.
Recall that the Lagos state government, through Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, had in March announced an upward review of bus fares for its BRT and LAGBUS services by almost 50%
These unprecedented increments led majority of the commuters to abandon the blue buses for danfo and white buses.
