GOOD NEWS! ASUU May Call Off Strike, Reaches Agreement With FG
Dear Nigeria students, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government have reached a truce to end the ongoing industrial action by the lecturers.
It was gathered that agreement was reached on Monday by the duo following a two-hour meeting in Abuja.
The Federal Government has also agreed to release 15.4 billion Naira in salary shortfall for the University teachers.
It was gathered that the union would soon call off the strike and the decision would be reached after a meeting with its members.
Meanwhile, the ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the National Executive Committee of the union will review their decisions based on the new commitment by the government.
According to him, it is only after that meeting of the ASUU leadership that the union would announce its position on the ongoing strike.
It has been over two months since the union went on strike following the inability of the government to keep to an earlier agreement.
