Gombe State Board Of Internal Revenue Boss Arraigned For Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Gombe Zonal office, has arraigned former Chairman Gombe State board of internal revenue, Atiku Mu'azu Bayum and three others before a Federal High Court Gombe on 30-count charge.
The charges are bordering on forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false pretense.
The defendants Atiku Mu'azu Bayum, Mohammed Adi, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abubakar Usman in their capacities as Chairman, Chief Store Officer, Chief Accountant and Director of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue respectively were accused to have conspired and forged documents in obtaining the sum of Twenty Five Million, Sixty Thousand Naira belonging to Gombe State Government.
The defendants however pleaded not guilty of all the charges read against them.
In his ruling on the bail application filed, Justice M.J Umar granted the defendants bail on two million naira each and two sureties in like sum for each.
One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below the rank of director serving and residing within the jurisdiction of the court which must verify by the prosecution.
