Gombe IDPs Get N1m To Build Hospital
Internally Displaced Persons living in Monda community of Birin Bolewa in Nafada local government area in Gombe state can smile again.
There seems to be a shining light at the end of the tunnel courtesy Gombe State Agency For Community Development.
The IDPs have been battling with health-related problems with no health facility to cater for them.
But the IDPs got their wish when the Gombe State Agency For Community Development, a World Bank assisted project; who they wrote to for assistance, approved their request.
Gwani Madu, the chairman of association of over 60 IDPs living in the community told Bounce News that they hardly get food let alone money to build hospital.
“We only hope and pray that government will come and build the hospital for us one day.
“But we never lose hope or stop begging politicians and big men around the community to help us” Madu said.
“Until today that this nongovernmental organization (NGO) Hope Spring International came and gave us a check of one million naira being 10% of the money needed for the project.”
An excited Gwani Madu said, “We have now seen signs of new dawn because building this hospital will help our pregnant mothers, young and old in addressing our medical problems. We cannot thank this NGO enough.”
Rambi Ayala, a board member of the NGO who presented the cheque to the community, told Bounce News that the organization intends to assist 10-15 communities in need of such assistance in Gombe state.
The organisation also presented a cheque of one million naira to Birin Bolewa Development association of same emirate council being 10% of ten million naira needed to construct drainages to address the problems of erosion in the community.
The village head of the community, Muhammed Kwairanga Abbakar said they are short of words in thanking Hope Spring International.
Deputy speaker Gombe State House of Assembly Kawu Musa who is also from the community said that the cash will go a long way in developing the communities.
He called on the two communities and other neighbouring communities to pray for the organisation.
