As the countdown to the Russia 2018 World Cup intensifies, football fans across the globe are getting their groove on.

They are showing love to their respective national teams as well as giving last-minute advice to the coaches and players.

Fans and sports analysts in Gombe State shared with Bounce News their expectations from the Super Eagles.

Faruk Yarma, the former chairman Gombe State Sports Commission told Bounce News that the Nigeria Football Federation has done well and should be appreciated for putting up such a squad.

“No team can be 100 percent perfect, so those saying some adjustment has to be made should wait and see how Super Eagles will fly in Russia 2018.''

Meanwhile, Halilu Muhammed Teli, Chairman Gombe State Chapter Of Sports Writers Association is of the view that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr should have invite more players.

“Yes, the 23-man squad of Super Eagles is good but I think the coach needs to do something in the defense” Teli said.

Another fan, Sadiq told Bounce News that he intends to buy the jersey, but the current dismal performance of the Super Eagles against England and Czech Republic in the World Cup warm up matches is discouraging him.

Meanwhile the Super Eagles will be going to the World Cup as underdogs indeed as they slipped further in the last FIFA ranking before the World Cup commences in Russia.

The Eagles dropped one place from 47th position to 48th in the latest rankings released by the world football governing body on Thursday.

In Africa, the Super Eagles slipped from sixth place to seventh as they are now behind Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco, Egypt and Ghana.

The slip by the Super Eagles will not be surprising to many as the three-time African champions have failed to make the most of the friendly games they played during the period under review.
