Goje Builds Mosque For Community Residents That Stoned Him
The rejected stone has become the chief cornerstone even in Gombe.
This best describes the outpouring of accolades members of Lawanti community in Akko local government in Gombe state showered on Senator Danjuma Goje.
This comes a few years after his convoy as governor was petted with stones by the same residents now singing his praise.
The senator endeared himself to the community after he announced plans to build a mosque.
Abdullahi Muhammed, a resident told Bounce News that it is surprising to them that the senator will deem fit to build a mosque in the community despite the way he was treated.
Chief Imam of Lawanti community, Ahmed Kura Dauda said they never approached the senator for the project but he promised to after he stopped to pray in the village.

“This Mosque is not going to serve this community alone but all communities around and anybody plying the federal road will in one way or the other will be a beneficiary of the mosque.”
Ahmed added that one out of the two major problems of the community has been solved, that they now look forward to seeing the end of the other problem which water scarcity.
“You see our problem now is drinking water because even our animals know that we are seriously faced with water shortage.”
He said they would want call on anybody that have a stake in providing water to communities to kindly come to their rescue.
It was gathered that Gombe state government has plans finding lasting solution to the perennial water scarcity.
The government was said to have paid N500 million being part payment of N1.8 million for the Gombe water reticulation project state government.
The general manager Gombe state water board Engineer Isah Muhammad told Bounce News that the project slowed down due to the economy situation the government finds itself.
He said the governor assured him that the project will be revisited soon and that the plan is to make sure that water is taken to Lawanti and the Gombe international airport.
