Funke Akindele Bello Makes Hollywood History In Avengers: Infinity War
Nollywood will be getting it's biggest break in Hollywood, even if its just a small role.
When the Avengers movie comes to cinema this May, Nollywood star, Funke AKindele, will be on the franchise blockbuster titled, Avengers: Infinity War.
Her name has been listed among the full cast of the Avengers: Infinity War on IMDb, the movie database website owned by Amazon.
Akindele-Bello is currently listed to play a role as a member of a Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s all-female special forces unit from the Black Panther comics.
Even if it is a minor role, the opportunity to act next to Hollywood stars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt, will be a big break for her career and might open more doors for her.
One of the reasons Funke Akindele-Bello might have made the final cut in the movie, is because she, like some of the other female stars, who play the role of Dora Milaje, in the fictitious African country of Wakanda, are actually Africans.
Florence Kasumba is a German Ugandan actress, Lupita Nyong'o is from Kenya, and Danai Jekesai Gurira is an American actress of Zimbabwean descent.
This will not be the first time the Avengers franchise has a connection to Lagos. In 2016’s Captain America Civil War, there was a major fight scene in the movie that took place in their own version of Lagos.
Last year, Marvel’s three movies—Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Raganarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2—jointly earned more than $2 billion, and hopefully Avengers: Infinity War will continue the trend of raking in money.
Congratulations to our own Jenifa.
