Fresh Plot To Remove Saraki As Senate President Uncovered
Just when Saraki thought the hatchet has been buried, it seems his political enemies are at work again.
Reports suggest some members of the APC who were against the election of Senate President Bukola Saraki are unrelenting in their plans to remove him from office.
They have allegedly launched a fresh plot to sack him from office.
The fresh plot follows fresh claims that Saraki plans to re-join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A Minister is said to be spearheading the plot according to Senator Isa Hamman Misau (Bauchi, APC)
Speaking at the Senate plenary Wednesday, Misau said the plot gained traction during the Christmas recess of the National Assembly.
Misau, however, did not mention the name of the minister who he accused of trying to lobby some senators to execute the plot.
The lawmaker made the allegations while contributing to the debate on the rising insecurity in the country.
He noted that the security situation had become worse because appointments into critical offices of the federal government were not merit-based.
“When we were on holiday, so many people were going behind that they should try and remove the Senate President,” he revealed while contributing to a motion sponsored by Shuaibu Lau, senator representing Taraba south, on herdsmen attacks in his state.
“During this holiday, a Minister was spearheading that thing. What is the reason, they said that the Senate President would leave APC that they should create problems from him.
“What kind of country is this? Everything is about religion, about tribe. It is high time for us to do. If it’s about talking here or holding conferences, it would not solve this problem.
