FRAUD! Kano Court Sends Banker To 7 Years In Prison
When Mannir Sagagi fraudulently collected money from Nasir Adam he may never have imagined he would be brought to book.
He will now spend seven years of his life in prison to get character reformation and will also pay back to Adam his money.
Sagagi is the Managing Director of KMC Micro-finance Bank and he appeared before Kano State High Court number 5, presided over by Justice Dije Aboki.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had put forward charges bordering on fraud.
He had allegedly connived with other persons to collect huge amount of money from Mr Adam in the name of accessing a loan for him from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
After the court heard the testimonies of the plaintiff, Justice Aboki sentenced Sagagi to seven years in prison without option of fine.
The court also directed the convict to pay 5.5 million Naira as compensation to Mr Adam.
Delivering her judgement, Justice Aboki directed the convict to pay Adam his money and use the seven-year prison term to correct his character.
