French president-elect, Emmanuel Macron, arrived at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Sunday for his inauguration as the country’s youngest ever president.

Macron, aged 39, will take over from outgoing Socialist, Francois Hollande.

Tackling high unemployment, fighting Islamist-inspired violence and uniting a deeply divided country are among his biggest challenges.

France's next prime minister will be appointed on Monday and the country's new government on Tuesday, a source close to President-elect Emmanuel Macron told Reuters on Sunday.

Independent centrist, Macron won a run-off vote against far-right candidate Marine Le Pen a week ago with 66% of the vote.
