Before the kickoff of the final group game of the 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria needed at least a draw, while opponent China must secure a win for a chance to advance to the quarter final.

At the end of the day, it was Nigeria who had the last laugh.

Nigeria scored an extra-time goal to send the Asians packing on Monday, and keep hope of beating their semi-final record.

Just before the break, L.Y. Zhang put China ahead after Nigeria was ruled offside.

The Asians were stronger in defense in the second half as the Africans continue to push for an equalizer.

Five minutes was added at the end of regulation time, and J.X. Dou scored an own goal to bring the tie to a 1-1 draw and qualified for the quarter final.

The coach Christopher Musa tutored side has now scored two goals and conceded two in the tournament.
