Four Die In Lekki Toll Gate Accident
What started as a normal Sunday meant to worship God has ended in sorrow and tears for the families of four bus passengers in Lagos.
A Lexus Jeep GX470 with registration number KJA-615DF plying one way ran into a commercial bus (KRE-302XA) that was just cleared by the ticketing officers at the toll gate.
This was at the 1st Gate inward Oriental Hotel along Lekki Epe Expressway.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was alerted at about 6.49 am on a distress call via the emergency toll free line 112/767 regarding the accident.
The Agency's Response Team, other emergency responders and the security operatives rushed to the scene of the incident.
From the collision, a total of four fatalities was recorded, which includes three adult males and an adult female.
There were 16 casualties with severe injuries, including 4 adult females and 12 adult males.
According to the LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, the two adult males who died at the scene were handed over to SEHMU while the remaining two – an adult male and an adult female, were later confirmed dead.
The driver of the jeep was transported to the General hospital at Marina.
While we continue to wonder why the Lexus driver was driving against traffic, the LASEMA boss has promised that the incident would be investigated by the security operative.
