Just for causing go-slow? You may wonder. But yes, that was the offence of this Keke Marwa rider in Abuja.

25-year-old Mustafa Balla will be spending 30 days in prison.

A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court on Friday handed the sentence to Balla who lives in Gwarinpa village.

Balla pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of obstructing traffic and driving without a licence.

The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay 5, 000 Naira fine and advised him to be a good citizen.

The prosecutor, Florence Auhioboh, had told the court that one Gloria Lrimiya, attached to Life Camp Police Station, reported the incident on May 25.

Auhioboh said Lrimiya arrested the convict along Life Camp Karmo road by Kado fish market at about 8 am on the same date.

She said the convict drove his tricycle with Registration LSD 708 QH recklessly and hindered free passage of persons and vehicles on a public high way.

Auhioboh said during police interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence, which contravened Sections 63 (3) of the Road Traffic Regulations and 10 (1) of Road Traffic law.
