Three days to Christmas and a family has been thrown into mourning.

Tragedy struck in northern Zambia’s Nakonde district after heavy rain led to flooding that swept a vehicle into a river killing five passengers.

The spokesperson of the police, Esther Mwaata-Katongo, said all the deceased were from the same family.

She said the incident happened on Tuesday night when the driver attempted to cross a bridge which was flooded.
