Five players from the roster of 30 invited are missing in action.

Nigeria’s senior home –based professionals, the CHAN Eagles began training on Tuesday in Kano and the team's managers could not account for some players.

Bounce Sports gathered that those that were absent from the maiden training session include: Afeez Aremu, Ifeanyi ifeanyi, Alhassan Ibrahim, Emmanuel Ariwa and the NPFL top scorer, Stephen Odey.

The first leg of their qualifying fixture against Benin Republic will be in Cotonou on 13th August and according to the NFF Scribe Mohammed Sanusi, the Super Eagles’ delegation will depart for the away match on 11th August.

They are expected to return to Kano to continue camping for the second leg, which will come up on 19th August.

Nigeria's best outing in the CHAN tournament was in 2014 in South Africa when they secured a bronze medal.

This present team will be hoping to surpass that performance but they will need to first qualify for the next edition coming up in 2018 in Kenya.
