Five Die In Suicide Bomb Attack On Mosque In Borno
A suicide bomber has thrown some families in Borno into mourning.
The female suicide bomber detonated her strapped explosive device and killed 5 people that had come to pray at a mosque in Borno.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in the mosque situated in Dikwa, a town just 90km from Maiduguri, the state's capital.
Three other worshippers were injured in the attack.
“A female bomber attacked the mosque during morning prayers, killing five worshippers,” said Ibrahim Liman, leader of a local militia fighting alongside the Nigerian Army against the terrorists.
He said soldiers in the town later intercepted another female bomber who blew herself up when asked to stop for a search.
No one was harmed in the second blast.
Fear of other attacks have forced authorities to shut a local market in the area, as soldiers and militiamen comb the town in search of two other suspected female bombers, Liman added.
