There is no gainsaying about the fact that the Flying Eagles of Nigeria need the very best of preparations they can get ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup that would be taking place in Poland.

Unfortunately for the Nigeria U-20 team, they have been hit with a major setback as one of the key tournaments they are banking on to use as preparation in the build up to the World Cup has been canceled.

The Suwon International Tournament in Korea Republic that would have served as a dress rehearsal for the Flying Eagles ahead of the real deal in Poland has been put off.

Coach Paul Aigbogun had hoped to use the Suwon tournament slated for next month to re-organise the team who finished a disappointing fourth at the recent U20 AFCON in Niger.

“The coach was looking forward to inviting some foreign pros who fall within the age to stake a claim for places in his team at the tournament,” a top official informed SCORENigeria

There are agitations in different quarters that the Flying Eagles present set-up needs to be overhauled as the team has dearth of  top-quality strikers as well as creative midfielders.

On  Sunday, the Nigeria U20s were handed their first-round foes at the World Cup and they are billed to start out against Qatar.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup will kick off on May 23.
