As the Russia 2018 World Cup comes to an end, attention is already shifting to the 2022 edition to be held in Qatar.

Already, the FIFA President Gianni Infantino has affirmed that the Qatar World Cup will hold between the 21st of November and 18th of December and not in the summer as it has ever been.

“The dates of the World Cup are closed. It will be played in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022. The leagues are informed and will have to adapt their calendars accordingly. In the end, it is the right decision. You can not play in June and July and in November and December the players will be well prepared, because it’s almost the beginning of the season, ” Infantino said at a press conference held at Luzhniki Stadium on Friday.

“In the next few months we will meet with them and a decision will be made, for the time being, 32 teams are played and the distribution of the places is as it is.”

Qatar 2022 will mark the first World Cup not to be held in May, June, or July as the competition is instead scheduled for late November until mid-December.

It is to be played in a reduced timeframe of around 28 days, with the final being held on 18 December 2022, which is also Qatar National Day.
