Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel turned one year older on Sunday April 22, 2018.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder is now 31.

Mikel has received birthday wishes from far and wide, with FIFA and his former club, Chelsea, among those who remembered the 2013 AFCON winner.

“We also wish former Blue, John Mikel Obi, a very happy birthday today!”, Chelsea tweeted.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also joined to wish the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist a happy birthday.

“Happy Birthday @NGSuperEagles captain fantastic. Have a good one Mikel.”

Born in Jos, Nigeria, on April 22, 1987, Mikel has represented the country at different youth levels (U-17, U-20 and U-23).

Mikel won 11 major titles in 10 and half seasons at Chelsea before heading to Chinese club Tianjin Teda.
