Nigeria’s D’Tigress may have lost hope in winning the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup, they are still fighting in Spain to get a better ranking after the tournament.

Sadly, their effort was not good enough on Saturday as they lost 84-62 to France, meaning they have dropped below the best six teams in the world.

In Saturday’s encounter, Nigeria won the first quarter 20-18 but lost 22-14, 23-10 and 21-18 in the remaining quarters respectively.

Nigeria’s Evelyn Akhator continued to shine as she scored nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Akhator is also the player with the most minutes played in the 2018 World Cup (157 minutes).

Nigeria will play one more game against Canada on Sunday to determine whether they finish 7th or 8th.
