D’Tigress Coach, Otis Hughley Jr, was a year older on Tuesday and he was given a befitting gift by his ladies.

They earned a record breaking 75-70 win over Argentina at the ongoing FIBA Women’s World Cup in Tenerife Spain.

Otis praised his team’s mental strength which he agreed contributed largely to the hard-earned win over the South Americans in their final Group B encounter at the San Cristobal de la Laguna court.

Nigeria became the first ever African team to win two games in a single FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup following wins over Turkey and Argentina.

“These players have got resolve and I have got no idea where they are digging that out from to win another close game,” Otis Hughley Jr told FIBA.com.

“They have no reference point at this kind of level to have taken it from. That was unbelievable and there is no coaching at this point with this team.

“These kids of mine just went out, played hard and made plays again when they needed to.”

D’Tigress will face Greece later today (Tuesday) in the quarter-final- qualifiers. A win for the Hughley Jr ladies will see them take on the USA in the quarter-finals on Friday.
