The Nigerian government has directed the acting director general of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni to proceed on retirement.

NAFDAC workers had commenced an indefinite strike demanding the immediate removal of Mrs. Oni, whom they said was already due for retirement.

Mrs Oni herself had written a letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation over the worker’s unrest in the regulatory agency.

The approval of her retirement, dated September 28, was the response her letter.

The directive for Mrs. Oni’s ‘immediate retirement’ was granted by the R.P. Ugo, a Permanent Secretary in the office of the SGF.
