Every day is a good day to celebrate a legend like Fela Kuti.

So, annually a week is taken out in October to celebrate the musician and activist in an event rightfully called Felabration.

As part of the celebrations, a week-long musical concert is held, bringing together all the big acts to Fela’s sanctuary, the Afrikan Shrine.

On a hot, yet lovely Friday night, the fifth day of the concert, Bounce News was live at the Afrikan Shrine to experience some Fela magic.

We were not disappointed, anyone who was not at the venue missed a lot.

There were loads of fun and hilarious moments as artistes paid tribute to Abami eDA.

There was a lot of 'throwing' at the event both figuratively and literally.

There were throwbacks with Daddy Showkey, and Kass, who performed numbers that provided a feeling of nostalgia for the audience who sang along.

Then there was the upcoming artiste who so excited that he threw his shirt into the crowd, and the ‘demanding’ crowd threw the shirt back at him-Maybe he had not impressed them enough.

Then there was money thrown at the crowd, by former Starboy musician, L.A.X., who also came on the stage with his bodyguard.

The event featured several unknown acts some of who came all the way from places like Port Harcourt and Abuja, to show their talent to the world.

The audience were the judges of each musician or band.

Anyone that they liked, the audience sang along, and the ones they did not like or found boring, you could hear shouts of ‘Gerbera!’  as they told them to leave the stage.

The event kept shifting gears from known to unknown acts, with the more popular ones like Vector, Reminisce, L.A.X, GodwinStrings, Kass, DaddyShowkey, YBNL’s Lyta and Ycee, giving the crowd a reason to dance like people without proper home training and ‘flex’ the night away into Saturday morning.

OritseFemi who was listed to perform on the night did not attend the event.

The music concerts are something worth experiencing, and there are just two days left to connect with this once in a year experience.
