Fela Kuti was seen as the 'Chief Priest' by a section of his supporters and through his music, Fela prophesied.

Felabration, the annual festival celebrating Nigeria’s icon and creator of Afrobeat Genre, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has unveiled the logo, design and theme for 2017.

This year marks exactly 20 years since the death of the Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, pioneer, human rights activist, and political maverick.

In his songs, he prophesied about corruption, wealth mismanagement, irresponsible and unaccountable leaders and docile followers.

To reflect this, the official theme song of this year’s festivities is ‘Pansa Pansa’.

The Felabration Festival will include: a Senior Secondary School’s Debate, Symposium, Dance competition, Artwork competition and the 7 days Musical Concerts which will include several super artistes display their talents at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja.

According to the organisers, there are talks with a number of international stars including Sauti Sol, and Wyclef Jean, who has a song titled 'Fela Kuti'.

For the first time, there will also be crowdfunding efforts utilising technology to offer fans of Fela around the world, the chance to contribute to the success of the event.
