Fed Cup: NFF Reads Riot Act To Match Officials
The Round of 64 matches of the 2017 Federation Cup holds on Wednesday with the Nigeria Football Federation sending out strong warning to all officials who would be assigned to handle the games.
The chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Ahmed Yusuf cautioned that any referee found wanting would not only be thrown out of the vocation but could also face prosecution.
He said the body will go tough on any official who errs, adding that the image of new sponsor Aiteo Group must be protected.
He said for many years, it was difficult to secure a sponsor for the Federation Cup, but Aiteo came to the federation's rescue recently.
“Any referee found to be involved in any shenanigan, or deemed to be outright incompetent or mischievous, will be summarily dealt with. We are tired of complaints about referees. We are ready to throw out as many as are found culpable, and will be ready to have only few competent and self –respecting persons take charge of matches,” Fresh told NFF website.
He added that only FIFA-batched and elite referees would be on duty on Wednesday.
