The battle for Ekiti is heating up and it is just two months to the governorship election that will hold in July.

Governor Ayodele Fayose still believes the winner of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Kayode Fayemi, is not a threat to his dream of handing over to a successor in the Peoples Democratic Party.

He even expressed this belief in his response to President Muhammadu Buhari's congratulatory message to Mr Fayemi.

Hours after the election held, President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated the winner, expressing confidence that Mr Fayemi's record in different endeavours would act in his favour, as he seeks to return as governor, four years after he lost a second term bid to Governor Fayose.

But Fayose does not believe what President Muhammadu Buhari said.

Like his earlier statement after Mr Fayemi won the primary election on Saturday, he again said Fayemi will lose.

He expressed this belief on his Twitter page.

After Mr Fayemi emerged as the candidate of the APC in Ekiti, Mr Fayose tweeted: "I thank the APC for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times.

"Fayemi should not celebrate this pyrrhic victory yet because it is nothing but a flame that will be quenched on July 14. He should expect to suffer worse defeat compared to that of 2014".

Everyone is confident of victory, but the people of Ekiti will surely decide who wins in coming months.
