What a way to spend the first few days out of office as governor of a state.

Mr Ayo Fayose arrived the EFCC office dramatically with his luggage on Tuesday, showing that he was prepared to be detained but apparently, he was not prepared for some surprises.

The bed he has been given to sleep on is so flat he had to cry out.

According to The Nation, the former governor has now written the EFCC to demand an additional mattress in his cell.

He complained that sleeping on one mattress was too flat to accommodate his frame and he would have to double it to have some form of comfort in the cell.

"He has demanded for a second mattress from the anti-graft agency and I think they are looking into his request. They want to find out from him the type of mattress needed to make him comfortable in custody," an EFCC source told The Nation.

Sadly, the man nicknamed Oshoko, will have to brace up as this might be a long journey after it emerged that the EFCC had obtained a remand order from the FCT High Court, empowering them to keep him for two weeks.

They can even renew if they so desire.

"We have obtained a court order to hold Fayose for at least two weeks pending investigation. He could be released earlier or later than two weeks depending on the outcome of investigation," a source told The Punch.

The former governor is being grilled over the N1.3 billion and another $5.377 million he allegedly received from former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, during his re-election campaign in 2014.
