Barely a week into the emergence of Kayode Fayemi as the APC flag bearer in the July 14th Ekiti State governorship election, some disturbing facts about his candidature have begun to emerge.

As expected, Fayemi's victory at the primary poll has attracted a litany of congratulatory messages from APC family across the country.

On Tuesday, Ondo state APC formally issued its congratulatory message and commended the transparency and fairness that trailed the process.

The statement, which was signed by the party publicity secretary, Abayomi Adesanya also appealed to all aspirants, chieftains and Party members to be united.

Responding to the statement, Indigenes of Ekiti state who are based in Akure, described Fayemi as a bad product for the party.

Their claims bore its reflection from the antecedent and reputation the minister has garnered for himself during his first term as governor.

Oluremi Ajiki, a civil servant in Ondo state said it would have been better for the party to pick someone else.

"I must confess to you that Fayemi is a mistake for APC in Ekiti. Personally, I like his person but he is the least person the people of Ekiti need now as their next governor. You are a journalist, go to Ekiti and listen to what people are saying about him. Then you will confirm what am talking about."

Roselyn Abidemi, a trader maintained that it will be difficult for Fayemi to win an election in Ekiti state.

"When I heard that it was Fayemi that won the APC primary, I knew Olusola Ekeka will win the election in July. Fayemi has never been a grassroot politician in Ekiti and his antecedent during his first term will always hunt him."

Deji Oladapo on his own believes that the only thing that can make Fayemi win, is for the election to be rigged for him.

"Aside rigging, there is no way Fayemi can win an election in our state. Go to Ekiti. Talk to the market women, talk to Okada riders, artisans, the civil servants. They will tell you the truth about him."

Fayemi defeated 31 other aspirants to emerge the party’s flag bearer in the rescheduled APC primary election held on Saturday in Ado Ekiti.

He will be up against the PDP candidate who is currently the state deputy Governor, Olusola Kolapo Eleka at the governorship election scheduled for July 14, 2018.
