Fans Attack Akwa United In Kano Again
Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United still have enemies in Kano several months after they caused a major upset, beating Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium during the NPFL 2015/16 season.
Reports suggest the Champions of the Aiteo Cup, on Saturday, had parts of the club's vehicle destroyed by unknown men in Kano.
This happened immediately after Akwa United played a barren draw with Enyimba in their first match of Ahlan Cup at the Sani Abacha stadium.
According the media officer of Akwa United, Mfon Patrick "On our way out of the Sani Abacha Stadium after the 0-0 draw with Enyimba in the Ahlan Cup, fans stoned our bus and broke the window glass".
Patrick maintained that they were no indications of violence until when the officials and the players started departing the pitch to the bus.
It would be recalled that last season, Akwa United players and management were attacked in the same Sani Abacha stadium after defeating Kano Pillars 0-1.
