Fani-Kayode Reminds Aregbesola Of His Promise To Resign If Adeleke Wins
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has reminded Governor Raulf Aregbesola of Osun State of his promise to resign from office if Ademola Adeleke wins the Osun West senatorial by-election.
Aregbesola had in the run-up to the election vowed to do everything possible to make sure Adeleke does not win.
Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commisson (INEC).
He polled a total of 97,480 votes, to defeat Mudashiru Hussain of the APC who secured 66,116 votes.
Hussain was Aregbesola's anointed candidate for the election.
Adeleke, the younger brother of the former occupant of the seat, late Isiaka Adeleke, won nine of the 10 local government areas where the election held.
The APC has already conceded defeat and has congratulated Adeleke.
The party noted that the election didn’t go according to its expectations, but that in the spirit of democracy, it has accepted the result.
However, the former Minister is has this to say;
"I will resign if Adeleke wins Osun West Senatorial bye-election"- Rauf Aregbesola.
