Family Set To Pay Ransom For Kidnapped Ex-Ondo Council Boss
Despite the herculean task it takes to raise the huge amount demanded by abductors, the family of Kidnapped ex-Ondo council boss, Dele Fagoriola, have resolved to pay his ransom and secure his release.
From all indications, his family is no longer willing to cross their fingers and continue mourning till Police in the state meet their expectations.
A source within the family confirmed to our reporter that the abductors have contacted the family and demanded for 20 million Naira for his ransom on Sunday.
"Although we don't have such money, we are negotiating with them and at the same time rallying around to raise a substantial amount that can secure his release," a source said.
The victim's kinsmen, however, appeared to be working at cross-line with the state police command.
The spokesman of the state Police Command, Femi Joseph, who earlier assured the family that the victim would be rescued and the abductors brought to book, has insisted that the family should not negotiate with criminals.
"We always advise families of Kidnapped victims not to negotiate for ransom once the police are involved. We are working round the clock and our men have taken over the entire farm environs. The perpetrators will surely be brought to book," he said.
Fagoriola was kidnapped on Saturday evening, by gunmen while working on his farm located in Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The former council chairman was said to be inspecting his farm when he was abducted by the gunmen who disappeared with him.
