The news has been all over social media, print and electronic media and it caught the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command.

It says the Togolese cook, Sunday Anani, standing trial for the murder of the late Ondo state business mogul, Chief Bademosi, had died in detention.

Quite disturbing it was for the CP and he quickly directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, DCP Yetunde Longe to check the veracity of the claims.

The head of the Command's legal department, accompanied by the suspect's Lawyer, from the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), Barrister Jamiu Alapo, also dashed to Ikoyi Prisons where he had been kept.

Surprised and equally relieved, they met the suspect hale and hearty without complaint.

A relieved CP Imohimi Edgal has now advised those uploading lies online to desist from such act as rumour mongering which can breach the public peace.

He also advised media houses to always cross check with relevant agencies before disseminating sensitive information.
