A lawmaker, in the State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan, representing Jos North-North has questions for PLASIEC. 

He said "The extension of the tenure of Local Government Management Committees, as you witnessed in the Chamber was quite a hot debate because of the concern of honourable members over the need for a democratically elected Local Government Councils in the State."

Hassan, who is also the Chairman House Committees on Local Government, said the extension of the tenure as requested by his Excellency Governor, Simon Lalong, became mandatory as their tenure will expire on the 30th of April, 2018.

"The responsibility of the conduct of elections at the Local Government level is vested in PLASIEC and with the passage and assent to the Local Government law August 2017, the burden of getting Democratically elected officials has been shifted to PLASIEC," he stressed. 
 
According to him, it was factual that PLASIEC, had scheduled elections to hold last February 28, 2018, "but were shifted due to unfavorable security situation."
 
"As at today, there is need for PLASIEC in conjunction with the Security Agencies, to address the good people of Plateau State on the State of the State as it relates to Local Government Elections," he said. 
 
"This my address should serve as clarion call on PLASIEC, to make such an address as a priority so as to reassure the populace," he demanded.
