Nigerian defender, Ola Aina got his first ever goal for Hull City on Saturday and it was a crucial one indeed.

The effort from Aina was enough to book Hull City’s place in the FA Cup fourth round as League One high-flyers Blackburn Rovers were beaten 1-0 at Ewood Park.

Aina was the Tigers’ unlikely hero just before the hour mark as he headed in Jon Toral’s right-wing corner to settle a hard-fought Third Round tie.

Blackburn did not go down without a fight as they struck the woodwork through Paul Caddis in the first half and missed a golden chance to equalise through ex-Tiger Danny Graham.

However, the resilient display by Aina and his teammates ensured they will be in Monday night’s draw for the last 32.

A first victory in six games will now see Hull City host Reading next weekend with confidence nurtured by only a second away win in 16 months.
