Three suicide bombers died in an attack on Damboa community, Borno State, in the early hours of Friday.

Two girls and a boy carried out the attack that occurred at different intervals, along Damboa road in Maiduguri.

Earlier reports said an explosion was heard near a depot of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation along Damboa Road.

Eyewitnesses said the first explosion occurred at about 3:00 am, claiming they saw the another girl and a boy hiding under a tanker near the area.

They further claimed the two later detonated their strapped explosives while some civilian security personnel ere trying to persuade them to come out from their hiding and cast off their IEDS.

Giving an account of the incident, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said three petrol tankers were destroyed as a result of the explosion.

The Borno State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu, said the corpses have been evacuated.

The spokesman for the police command in the state had told News Agency of Nigeria that officials had been sent to the scene to provide security.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Boko Haram terrorists group has carried out similar attacks in the past.
