Uche Nwofor featured for Nigeria at the last World Cup in Brazil but he has faced several challenges since then.

He is only picking the pieces of what is left of his career at NPFL club, Enugu Rangers.

The mid-season signing for the Flying Antelopes made his first start for his boyhood club on Tuesday and it was worthwhile.

He had a hand in both goals as Rangers defeated F.C Inter of Obeagu, 2-0 to progress into the semifinal of the ongoing Aiteo Cup.

Nwofor’s cross in the 19th minute was bundled home by the opponent’s defender, Onyebuchi Ogbu, after the armature side showed grits and guts in the first quarter of the encounter.

The former VVV Venlo forward made the encounter safe for the ‘Flying Antelopes’ just three minutes into the second half.

He dribbled his way through a sea of tackling legs to slot home beyond the diving, Gbajiebo Chukwujekwu.

Uche Nwofor said after the encounter, “We thank God for the victory. It was difficult at the start of the match but we gradually warmed our way into the match and got our victory. It can only get better as we continue to chase the league shield and cup double at the end of the season.”

With the result, Rangers will be tackling their Feeders team in the semi-finals scheduled to take place on Tuesday May 22 while the semi-finals between Crime Busters and Disdevt in Afrik will take place on Saturday May 19.
