The Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL has entered its business end as the title contenders and relegation battlers are getting more prominent with each passing match.

Fans, club sides and the players are edgy. No one knows who exactly with the drawn into relegation waters.

Bounce Sports caught up with a known name and face in Nigeria football circles, Franklin Howard who looks into his crystal ball to give some brave predictions as it concerns the NPFL.

Howard among other things prides himself as the first captain of the Flying Eagles; Nigeria’s U-20 and outside his illustrious playing career he has also put his hands into coaching; handling several clubs including the famous Shooting Stars.

“It has been an interesting season, I must confess, sincerely not many people would have predicted the table as we presently have it.

“After seeing Rangers win the league last season, you would have expected they will give a fight to defend the title but see where they are, they are battling against relegation.

“It has been a close fight between MFM FC and Plateau United and I think the title is between these two teams if they stay focused in their last set of games.

“For the other continental slot, Enyimba will have to double up because Akwa United are also doing well.

“I very happy with how the league has gone this season, we have had less incidences of win at home at all cost syndrome and all of that, the referees have improved in my own opinion so kudos to everybody” the former Shooting Star added.

While the relegation fight is even hotter than the title fight itself, Howard said he could only beat his chest about his former club, Shooting Stars beating the drop.

“It is very dicey at the bottom of the log, if you look at the points gap between those in the relegation zone and those even at the top half of the table, it is very small and anything can change in two, three matches”

“It is always sad to go down and I wish all the teams good luck but one thing I am very sure is that Shooting Stars will not be relegated, “the veteran coach concluded.
