Former Super Eagles star Finidi George has reportedly offered to coach the country’s U17 team, the Golden Eaglets, for free.

The former Ajax Amsterdam and Real Betis winger was one 59 shortlisted coaches interviewed by the NFF technical committee for vacant national teams’ posts.

He was grilled by the technical committee via telephone.

“Finidi has told NFF officials he is willing to coach the U17s for free,” SCORENigeria quoted a source.

“He has already told the technical committee he is not disturbed about the poor finances of the NFF which may cause salaries to be delayed for several months.

“He said he is only driven to give something back to the country that made him and he believes he can impact what he has learnt working with age-group teams in Mallorca to make a difference with the country’s cadet team.”

During his playing days, Finidi was a household name that ruled the Super Eagles right wing, he has since secured several coaching certifications in Europe and also handled some youth teams in Spain.
