Sokratis Papastathopoulos scored his first Arsenal goal inside the fourth minute on Thursday, deflecting home Nacho Monreal's header from a corner to give the visitors the perfect start in Azerbaijan.

And Emile Smith Rowe enjoyed a moment to saviour for the rest of his life, putting the Gunners 2-0 ahead in the 52nd minute with a coolly converted finish from Iwobi’s well-timed pass.

And Matteo Guendouzi wrapped up proceedings with a strike into the bottom corner with just over 10 minutes left to give the Gunners a routine win and also a clean sheet.
