Europa League: Iwobi Gears Up For Cologne Clash With Arsenal
Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi looks set for a key role as Arsenal travel to Germany to face Cologne in their next Europa League game fixed for Thursday.
The Gunners are all but assured of their place in the next phase of the second-tier club competition, but it is understood that Wenger is favourably disposed to having the likes of Iwobi feature in the Cologne game to further aid their improvement.
Aside his amazing run with the Super Eagles, Iwobi has made 10 appearances so far this season, the latest coming on Saturday when he came off the bench late on during the north London derby success against Spurs.
He looked bright in the closing stage at the Emirates and is expected to get more minutes in midweek when Arsenal travel to Cologne in the Europa League.
Iwobi is widely seen as a favorite of Arsene Wenger, but the boss accepts the attacker still has a long way to go in the quest to actually fulfil his abundant potentials.
“There’s still much to come from him,” said Wenger. “I want him to become a better defender as well. You want him to make better quality receptions in the final third, better runs.
“That will come because he’s a boy who loves football, who is passionate about the game and he has a very good attitude and analysis about his own game.
“He’s just enthusiastic to play and enthusiastic to be involved. He’s a pleasure to work with.
“For him the target is to keep the same attitude and the same desire to improve, he’ll move forward very quickly,” the Arsenal Coach stated.
