Liverpool are not smiling this season as they made it five wins in as many games on Saturday in the Premier League; beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in the weekend’s early kickoff.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been touted as one of the title contenders for this season and they are living up to that billing with another well-deserved victory.

It was Georginio Wijnaldum who recently revealed that he held talks with Tottenham Hotspur before opting to join Liverpool in 2016 that broke the deadlock in the 39th minute at Wembley on Saturday.

Nine minutes into the second half, Roberto Firmino doubled Liverpool’s advantage with another sumptuous goal.

With his feat on Saturday, Firmino has been directly involved in 61 Premier League goals for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp (38 goals, 23 assists), 16 more than any other player.

Spurs who scored a late consolation goal through Erik Lamela were made to rue the absence of captain Hugo Lloris with stand-in goalkeeper Michel Vorm arguably culpable for both goals in a second straight defeat for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
