The English Premier League is big business and all teams are fighting to earn their positions.

Almost half of the teams in the Premier League have sacked their coaches this season as the ninth manager was given the boot on Monday night.

Southampton have parted company with manager Mauricio Pellegrino; making him the latest manager to be shown the exit.

The Argentinian's final match in charge was the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday, a result that left the club fourth from bottom and a point above the relegation zone.

Pellegrino after a promising start could not sustain the momentum; claiming just one win in his last 17 Premier League matches.

Assistant manager, Carlos Compagnucci and assistant first-team coach, Xavier Tamarit have also left the club.

Southampton say they will look to appoint a new management team "as soon as possible"

The team are next in Premier League action at West Ham United on 31 March.
