Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi was on the starting lineup for Arsenal on Saturday as his side managed a slim 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Iwobi played for 72 minutes before he was take off for Danny Welbeck in a game Arsenal had the opportunity to score as many goals.

Mesut Ozil’s 23rd minute goal was all the Gunners needed to claim all three points up for grabs at the Emirates Stadium.

Jack Wilshere was behind the goal, driving from midfield, spreading play out wide. Iwobi crosses in and met Alexis Sanchez, who’s shot was blocked and the header drops to Ozil, who has to adjust and keep the shot down while still getting power on it straight into the net.

After the goal, Arsenal wasted several chances at goal.

As the game gets to a close, late push from Newcastle was almost enough and had they approached the game in that manner from the start, they might have taken something.

The win takes Arsene Wenger’s side to 33 points from 18 matches, and sitting 4th spot on the English Premier League table ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Manchester City, and Liverpool’s Sunday fixture at AFC Bournemouth.
