Chelsea are high on confidence that they can knock Liverpool off the top spot on the Premier league table after they went to Anfield to inflict the first defeat of the season on Jurgen Klopp’s men in the League club three days ago.

Though the complexion of the line ups of both Chelsea and Liverpool will be much changed compared to what obtained in the Third Round EFL Cup tie, the Blues are positive they can get the three points that would see them overtake Liverpool who so far have six wins in as many games in the Premier League this season.

Both managers made eight changes to their starting lineups for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie, with full debutant Fabinho one of five Liverpool players to make their first start of the season.

Each of those fringe players will likely make way for this second clash between the teams in three days, as Klopp reverts back to something close to the side that saw off Southampton with ease last time out in the league.

It is also expected that the likes of Victor Moses who played 90 minutes and surprisingly had the highest number of completed dribbles for Chelsea will be back on the bench for Saturday's super clash.

Following their EFL Cup third-round loss, Liverpool have now won just two of their last 14 meetings with Chelsea in all competitions, although those two triumphs did come at Stamford Bridge.

This is the most-played fixture in English football in the 21st century, with Chelsea and Liverpool facing each other on Saturday for the 58th time in that period.

Olivier Giroud has scored five goals in his last six Premier League starts against Liverpool, including the winner in last season’s corresponding fixture in May and many will hoping to see the Frenchman nail the Reds again.

Will Liverpool avenge their Cup defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge or will the Blues confirm they are better than the Reds??? We wait to see!!!
