Enyimba Mourns Death Of Anambra Church Shooting Victims
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Enyimba are shocked over the death of 12 persons in Sunday’s shooting at St Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra state.
The police in Anambra on Sunday confirmed that a gunman killed some worshipers and injured 18 others in an attack on St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Enyimba, who played a goalless draw with MFM FC on Sunday in Lagos, also sent their condolences to the families of the victims.
“Shocked at the news of the shooting at St Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu. Our prayers are with the bereaved.” The club posted on twitter.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Garba Umar, said the remains of the dead have been deposited at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi while the injured are receiving treatment.
He said preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the attack was carried out by a native of the area.
