Rangers International on Tuesday defeated amateur side, Mourinho F.C 2-0 at the ongoing South East/South South Pre-Season Tourney.

The Onitsha side that paraded international stars including: Uche Nwofor, Chikere Osita and Duru Arinze took the fight to their more experienced opponents but met stiff resistance.

The opening goal in the feisty encounter did not come until the 70th minute when Tayo Fabiyi and Ajani Ibrahim combined well to set up Chinedu Udechukwu to break the deadlock.

With five minutes left on the clock, Rangers were duly awarded a penalty kick and that was well dispatched into the net by Chiamaka Madu.

Rangers Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote said after the match, “It was a good game and we had to dig in to earn the win. Like I always say, no team is a small team especially when they play against a top side like us. We shall continue to work on the team until we achieve the perfect side of our dream.”

Rangers next play F.C Ifeanyiubah, Wednesday at 4.00pm to determine who emerges top of the group.
