Coach Gbenga Ogunbote before Wednesday’s feat in Asaba could well be described as the Nigerian League’s Mauricio Pochettino.

Coach Ogunbote with limited resources has left a mark on all the teams he has handled but with no major title to show for his efforts.

It was looking like the trend will continue with Rangers on Wednesday in the 2018 Aiteo Cup final played in Asaba.

After 70 minutes of action, Rangers were already trailing Kano Pillars 3-0 and many had already given up on the Flying Antelopes scoring a goal let alone muster a comeback.

That however was the case as the Enugu State team came from the dead to beat Pillars 4-2 via penalties and emerge Aiteo Cup 2018 Champions.

Coach Ogunbote could only say, “All glory goes to God. This happened because of His mercies and I return all the glory to Him. This was a great scare but we fought hard to ensure we are crowned champions and I am happy. I thank our fans who stood by us even when we were down.”

With this victory, Rangers International F.C have picked up the only ticket to represent the country in next season’ CAF Confederation cup in addition to the twenty-five million naira prize money from sponsors of the oldest club competition in Nigeria, Aiteo.
