England defeated Nigeria 2-1 in a pre-World Cup international friendly played at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

In the game, striker Dele Alli was booed by fans whenever he touches the ball.

The reason appears to be down to his decision to represent England rather than Nigeria.

Alli’s father is Nigerian, but the player was born in England and grew up there.

He never considered playing international football for Nigeria, and first represented England in 2015, making his 24th appearance on Saturday at Wembley.

Ahead of the 2016-17 season he changed the name used on his shirt to Dele, saying he felt no connection to his legal surname due to the separation from his mother.
