There is this popular quote accredited to former Uganda military ruler Idi Amin which goes, "there is freedom of speech but freedom after speech I cannot guarantee you".

A project tracking officer at BudgIT Nigeria, Moses Motoni, seems to have experienced something similar to the quote.

Motoni was allegedly arrested by SARS operatives over offences believed to be related to BudgIT’s activities on the #EndSARS protest on Nigeria’s social media community.

The police, however, denied Motoni was arrested by SARS operatives, adding that the BudgIT official was held for inciting a public disturbance.

A statement on Nigeria Police Force’s Facebook page, said, “Moses Motoni is alive, healthy and in good condition. He was not arrested by SARS Operatives and he’s being granted bail".

Abayomi Akinbo, Budgit’s Project Manager, said Motoni was initially invited by Senator Mohammed Sani the previous day. He did not honour the invitation, Akinbo said.

“He later received an invitation from DHL where he was later arrested and transferred to Abuja under the directives of the Inspector General of Police”, Akinbo added.
