Veteran actor turned politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has thrown his support behind President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections.

At a political gathering where he was given the opportunity to speak, the Enugu state Governorship aspirant asked people in the South East to support President Buhari, insisting that he would support an Igbo president in 2023.

''If the South East shall support any other person for the presidency, they are going to spend the next eight years in the wilderness. Our slogan is Ndigbo for President Buhari 2019 and then President Buhari for Ndigbo 2023," he said.

In March 2018, Kenneth Okonkwo declared his intention to become the next governor of Enugu State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and said that he had the support of one time governor of the state, Sullivan Chime.

In July 2018, the 'Living in Bondage’ star took his political aspirations further by unveiling his posters for next year’s elections, and has began campaigning to be the next Governor of Enugu state.
